3M 8981 Heavy-Duty Filament Tape is a high-strength, glass-reinforced industrial tape designed for demanding strapping, bundling, reinforcing, box closing, and heavy-duty packaging applications.

Continuous glass yarn filaments provide very high tensile strength with low stretch, making 3M 8981 well suited for metal and pipe bundling, reinforcing large bulk containers, securing heavy packages, and other applications where dependable holding strength is required.

The clear polypropylene film backing helps protect the reinforcing filaments and adhesive while providing resistance to abrasion, moisture, scuffing, nicks, and punctures during handling, storage, and shipment. Its transparent construction also allows package graphics, labels, and printed information to remain visible through the tape.

A pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber resin adhesive provides strong initial adhesion and long-term holding power. The adhesive bonds well to common packaging surfaces including corrugated cardboard, fiberboard, plastics, and metals.

With a total tape thickness of approximately 6.6 mil and tensile strength of approximately 380 lb/in, 3M 8981 provides heavy-duty reinforcement for demanding industrial packaging and bundling applications.
