Medium-Duty Filament Tape for Bundling, Palletizing & Reinforcement

3M 897 Medium-Duty Filament Tape is a glass-reinforced packaging tape designed for strapping, bundling, pallet unitizing, box closing, reinforcing, and other general industrial packaging applications.

Continuous glass yarn filaments provide high tensile strength with low stretch, helping the tape securely bundle products, reinforce cartons, and stabilize packaged goods during handling, storage, and shipment. The polypropylene film backing helps protect the reinforcing filaments and adhesive while providing resistance to abrasion, moisture, nicks, and scuffing.

A pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber adhesive provides good initial adhesion with minimal rubdown and bonds well to common packaging surfaces, including fiberboard, plastics, and metals. This makes 3M 897 a versatile choice for light- to medium-duty industrial strapping and reinforcement applications.

With a total thickness of approximately 5 mil and tensile strength of approximately 170 lb/in, 3M 897 provides a useful balance of strength and economy for applications that require more reinforcement than conventional packaging tape without requiring a heavier-duty filament tape.

The transparent backing allows package graphics, printing, labels, and other information to remain visible through the tape.
