High-Strength Filament Tape for Box Closure, Bundling & Reinforcement

3M 898 High-Performance Filament Tape is a very-high-strength reinforced packaging tape designed for heavy-duty box closure, pipe bundling, reinforcing large bulk containers, and other demanding industrial packaging applications.

Continuous glass yarn filaments reinforce the tape along its length to provide exceptional tensile strength with low stretch. The transparent polypropylene film backing helps protect the reinforcing filaments and adhesive while providing resistance to abrasion, moisture, scuffing, nicks, and punctures during shipping, handling, and storage.

A pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber resin adhesive provides strong initial adhesion and long-term holding power on common packaging materials including corrugated cardboard, fiberboard, plastics, and metals. The adhesive also bonds well to oily surfaces, making 3M 898 suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

With a total tape thickness of approximately 6.6 mil and tensile strength of approximately 380 lb/in, 3M 898 provides substantial reinforcement for applications where very high holding strength is required. The tape is engineered to dispense consistently without curling for easier application.

3M 898 is particularly well suited for full-overlap L-clip box closures, bundling pipe, reinforcing large bulk containers, and securing packages exposed to demanding shipping and handling conditions.
